Shadow House The Gathering - Text to All

¨Shadow House The Gathering¨- Text to All
                                                                By: Shannon Scheirmann

Poppy, Dash, Dylan, Marcus, and Azumi don´t know at first they think the have been summoned to the Shadow House for Innocent reasons, but no one goes for just that. This house isn't just any regular house hallways move, doors vanish, ghosts appear, children disappear and the exit that disappeared too. That´s what the Shadow House by Dan Poblocki is all about. The five children Poppy, Dash, Dylan, Marcus, and Azumi are trapped in what they think is called the Larkspur, but what is actually called the Shadow House. Along they way many things have happened, things moving themselves, fires starting then die out, storm inside the house, and mysterious children appear then vanish.
Throughout this book there are many things you can connect to personally, weather is a small thing such as looking for something that you lost and not being able to find it or something big like a parent being divorced. My connection to this book was when Poppy was talking about how her life is. Although I don´t live in an orphanage, not having any personal belongings, and have no parents, but I constantly move houses like her too. Its kinda weird, but I know what its like to just one day get up and move. I probably don´t do it as often as her, all I know is that it kinda stinks and no one wants to move.
In the Shadow House there was a dangerous fire. Poppy and Marcus tell each other what to do that was no one gets hurt. Poppy says at ¨Thursdays Hope (her current orphanage) they  learned to stay low because the smoke is really bad for you if you breath it in. In the book Escaping The Giant Wave Kyle and his younger sister Bee Bee are caught in an electrical fire and Bee Bee gives him a lesson on what to do and what not to do during a fire. I connected these because I felt like the situations were kinda similar, especially when they talk about what to do and what not to do.
My final connection would be text to world. Although its kinda hard to connect a horror book to the world there is one main thing I can connect to. During the book Poppy talks about how you always need someone. I connect this to the world because all you need in this world in at least one person to relies on even if its for something stupid. Someone to help you out when your in need or just to bring you food.
Over all I would definitely recommend this book because it always want to make you keep reading. You never want to stop. One question i´ve always had while reading is why would you go in the creepy house in the first place. Who is stupid enough to walk in a abandon house that is haunted. That´s like a random person asking if you want t get in their van, you just wouldn't do it. Even after this one question I would still would recommend it to a peer.
